God has taken Heart City Church on an amazing journey! Heart City Church was established as a result of two Australian Christian churches amalgamating in January of 2006.
Pastor Peter and Sandra Meyer have been the senior pastors and led us for the past sixteen years. In February 2019 the leadership was handed over to Pastor Luke and Priscilla. Luke and Priscilla are passionate about life and have three boys who love travel and adventure.
Purpose Statement:
We exist to bring honour and glory to God.
At Heart City we believe that our Vision should reflect HIS Mission.
A Heart for God
We value the presence of God in our lives and in all our church meetings. We believe that this is what God desires. 1 Sam. 16:7 says that “The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
The Great Commandment
When someone asked Jesus what the Greatest commandment is:
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” (Matt 22:37).
At Heart city church we have a vision to be DISCIPLES of Jesus – wholehearted followers of our Saviour.
A Heart for Others
We believe that as we seek God’s heart, our own lives are transformed and we develop a heart for others. We believe that true Christianity is others-focused and this happens naturally out of a relationship with God because GOD loves people (John 3:16).
The Great commandment and the Great commission go hand in hand (Matthew 28:18-20):
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
At Heart city church we have a vision to Make a disciples for Jesus.
A Heart for Community
At Heart City we desire to be a group of people who make a difference in our community. Jesus said that “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matt. 5:14). We desire to be right at the heart of the community, a place known for its unwavering love and acceptance. We are a church that goes beyond our four walls and that touches our community.
At Heart City Church we have a vision to Shine the Light of the gospel to all around.
We believe in one eternal God, self-existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; distinguishable but indivisible. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
We believe that God created the world and everything in it and as recorded in Genesis 1 & 2; We believe that God created every individual and gave every human being a free will; and in using the free will that God gave humanity, we by our disobedience and sinful nature have total spiritual disconnection and are completely unable to attain to right-standing with God on our own merit. (Romans 5:12,18-19)
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the only Saviour of humanity; Who fully God, became fully man through conception by the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. His sinless life made possible His death as perfect atonement for all humanity. (John 1:14-18; Luke 1:26-35; Isaiah 7:14; 9:6)
We believe that Jesus Christ gave up His life on the cross, was buried and rose again the third day, and personally appeared to His disciples. He ascended to Heaven and He will come again a second time for His Church. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 4:25; John 14:2-3; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
We believe that God is not willing that any person should be separated from Him but everyone, through repentance and faith in who Jesus is and what Jesus did on the cross, may obtain eternal life by confessing that conviction with their mouth and believing in their heart; by means of God’s grace through Jesus, we have right-standing with God. (Titus 3:4-7; Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 5:8-11; Romans 10:8-13)
We believe that the Bible is inspired by God and is the sole and final authority for all matters of faith and conduct.. It is accurate, authoritative and applicable to our every day lives. (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19-21; 1 Corinthians 2:13, Hebrews 4:12)
We believe in the reality of the spiritual realm, angels and demons; heaven and hell; the existence of the Devil; and God’s judgment destining him and his fallen angels to eternal consignment in the Lake of Fire. We believe in the eternal life of believers and eternal separation from God for unbelievers. (Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:14-15; John 5:24; John 3:16,36; Mark 9:43-48; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9; Revelation 20:10-15)
We believe that God wants us to live a life based on the finished work of Jesus, from which our security in salvation produces a desire to obey God, a willingness to fear God more than man and to express true Christian faith through genuine obedience to God’s word. (Ephesians 5:18; 2 Corinthians 6:14; 7:1)
We believe that water baptism by immersion is an outward act of obedience by each individual who chooses to acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 2:34-36; 19:1-6)
We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as a distinct experience given by God. We recognise speaking in an unknown language as a significant evidence of this Baptism; and that speaking “in tongues” is a God-given prayer language available to every believer who is baptised in the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:1-4; 8:14-17; 10:44-45; Galatians 3:14, Jude v20)
We believe that God wants to use believers today in the operation of the gifts and ministries of the Holy Spirit; We believe that God still does miracles and uses believers to bring healing and deliverance in the name of Jesus, as part of bringing the reality of God to our world, as practiced in the early Church. (Acts 4:30; Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 12:9; James 5:14; Mark 16:17; Ephesians 4)
We believe all human life is a gift from God and that life is sacred from the moment of conception and each person has a divinely ordained purpose irrespective of the circumstance of conception or birth and we uphold and honour the sanctity of human life from this same moment. (Genesis 1:28; Psalm 139:13-16; Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 1:15)
We believe God’s intention for marriage is between one man and one woman for life, and that all sex is reserved for marriage as God intended it. (Genesis 1:27, Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6, Ephesians 5:22-23, Mark 10:1-9; 1 Corinthians 7:1-4, Proverbs 5:15-19, 1 Corinthians 6:9, Galatians 5:16)
We believe that because of our sinful nature and brokenness in our world, we all struggle with varying issues, but the heart of God is to bring forgiveness and restoration to those who seek it and that through grace and truth, personal healing and reconciliation to God is available to all. (Romans 6,7,8; Luke 4:18, Acts 3:19-21, Galatians 6:1, Psalm 23:3, Jeremiah 29:11-14; John 1:14,17, Hebrew 4:16, John 8:31-32, 2 Corinthians 12:8-9)
